Leon JAmes, CFP®
Leon is the managing director at TurningPoint Retirement Strategies, where he helps people organize their financial priorities into a cohesive plan. He has deep experience and knowledge regarding the complex issues of retirement planning, including IRAs and 401(k)s, pensions, rollovers and transfers, Social Security and Medicare.
Leon has been providing sound investment advice for over 35 years, with an emphasis on helping people develop a strategic vision for building, managing, and distributing their retirement assets. His most recent position was Managing Director for Optivest Retirement Strategies, LLC, a private money management firm. He is also a respected author and has most recently published articles including “The IRA Distribution Tax Trap,” “Retirement Plan Distributions – Developing 30 Years of Income,” and “An Institutional Approach for Individuals,” published in Investment Advisor Magazine.
Leon holds many distinguished designations including: CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional (CFP®), and his specialty is on increasing retirement income, reducing or eliminating taxation of Social Security benefits, and protecting retirement assets from the erosion of inflation and taxes. Leon is also an honored member of the Cambridge Who’s Who Registry of Executives and Professionals. He was named Executive of the Year for 2007–2008, representing investment management by the Membership Selection Committee.
Outside of the office, Leon enjoys traveling with his wife, reading, and physical training. He is also actively involved with several foundations that have outreach to people locally, across the country, and around the world.

(CFP Board) owns the certification marks CFP®, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™, and CFP® (with plaque design) in the United States, which it authorizes use of by individuals who successfully complete CFP Board’s initial and ongoing certification requirements.
